Fielding's Platform

Her Conservative Vision for Gaston County's Future

PLATFORM

"My family has lived, worked, and served in Gaston County for well over 100 years. In fact, in 1909, my great-grandfather, a city councilman, moved to approve the purchase of Cherryville's very first fire truck. The people of Gaston County provided a safe, healthy childhood for me. And, for that I am incredibly grateful. I believe every child deserves to be protected and nurtured during their childhood by their family and their community. I am asking for your vote to allow me to use my experience and the gifts God gave me and Gaston County nurtured to serve you and our community as your District Court Judge."
LIST OF ISSUES
Conservative Values with a
Community Focus

Fielding was dedicated, baptized, and married in First Baptist Church in Cherryville.  Fielding was blessed to be taught in Sunday School and from the pulpit by some of the most steadfast and devout Christ followers one could ever hope to meet.

It was in that church that Fielding learned that God is love and that good leaders are servants first.  It was here, too, that Fielding learned – in the words of the Book of Micah – to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with her God.

Fielding and her family joined First Methodist Church in Gastonia upon their return to Gaston County.  This church, like her home church, has a strong history and tradition of serving the community in which it is located, and it is in this church that Fielding and Josh are raising their sons.

Fielding was educated by talented, committed teachers in Gaston County Schools, and she was coached by some of those same teachers in her school-related athletic pursuits.  In recreational softball in the summer, there were always coaches and team sponsors that stepped up year after year to make sure that the children in the community could have fun and learn how to function as part of a team.

In all the activities in which she was engaged, Fielding always felt safe and cared for during her childhood.  As she has gotten older and gone out and seen more of the world, Fielding has come to realize that having a safe, healthy childhood like the one she experienced in Cherryville is becoming less and less common.

As a result, Fielding feels a responsibility to give back to the county and community that provided her with a safe, healthy, happy childhood, and she views serving as a district court judge in Gaston County as the perfect opportunity for her to do just that.

Constitution and Laws

Fielding is committed to upholding the Constitution and applying the laws as they are written.  She will not be an activist judge, and she will not apply the law as she thinks it  “ought to be.”  She will apply the law as it is, with fairness and consistency.

Fairness, Honesty, and Accountability

Fielding believes that applying the law as written to every case that will come before her is the only way to be truly fair and honest.  Our courts are one of the last places in our society in which people are held accountable for their actions.  If elected, Fielding will not hesitate to hold people accountable for the crimes they have committed and to protect our community from repeated acts of violence and theft.

Children and Families

As a wife of 16 years and a mother of two sons, Fielding understands the vital role that strong families play in our community.  As a DSS attorney, she has extensive experience in working with families in crisis, and she has seen first-hand the harm that can be done to the children and elderly in our community when families become unable to take care of their own.  Fielding is passionate about doing everything she can as a district court judge to ensure that the justice system supports families, empowers parents, and protects our children and elderly from neglect and abuse.
